At a camp, there is no air conditioning, furnace or kitchen. Therefore, you need to plan your adventure thoroughly ahead of time. If you want helpful advice on making your camping trip more enjoyable and easier, read this article for some tips.

Always find your shelter before it gets dark when you go camping. When night falls, making food, finding wood, and pitching your tent can be very difficult. It can be even more difficult for those who are not accustomed to trying to see in complete darkness. Try to avoid setting up after the sun sets.

All participants should have a say in where you go camping. Talk over what your destination state should be. There are millions of options just in the United States, and it can sometimes be difficult to choose the perfect one! Make a list of your favorites and allow the family to vote.

Before you set out on your camping trip take the time to check the weather forecast for the area that you will be visiting. Some websites will tell you what the weather is usually like during the time you’ll be going. By knowing the weather, you can ensure you pack the proper equipment and clothing for your camping trip.

A bandana or handkerchief can be a great addition to your camping equipment. You can use that piece of material for many purposes, such as holding a hot pot, cleaning surfaces, etc. They are quite versatile, so be sure to bring one every time you go on a trip.

To start your fires at camp, use dryer lint as kindling. Collect some lint from your clothes dryer to bring with you. Keep a simple plastic or ziplock bag near your dryer to make collecting easier. Your kindling will be ready for you to grab on the way out the door for your trip.

Oranges taste great, but they can also help keep mosquitoes away from you. Keep the peels when you are finished eating them. Rub the peels on your body and mosquitoes will stay away.

Kids love camping, especially when you plan activities that they can do. If you are camping in the deep woods, far from anything familiar, kids can become bored. They probably aren’t used to fishing or campfires. Teach them the basics of these activities before leaving for your trip, especially if they don’t have lots of outdoor experience.

Did you know that a roll of high-quality duct tape is a great item to take camping with you? Its multipurpose properties aren’t only useful at home, they can be used in the wild too. You can slap a piece of it on a leaking air mattress. Use it to cover any holes or rips that appear in tents or hold together items that break. You can even put some under your feet before long hikes so that you don’t get blisters. This can also be used for injuries when you do not have a regular doctor around.

When you camp, you are “roughing it”. Many people find this an attractive proposition, while others consider it intimidating. It is a vacation, so you want to go prepared so you can spend more time relaxing while you are camping. The piece above contained some great advice, so put it to good use!
